Makers Markets in downtown Evanston August 7

The Makers Markets in downtown Evanston invite the community to shop for hundreds of handcrafted goods, from original art to bags, in an indoor garage.

Located on the 5th floor of the “cinema” parking lot in downtown Evanston, this market is a weatherproof event, with vendors setting up next to their parked cars and selling directly to the public.

Entering their fourth year, Makers Markets take place on the first Sunday of August and October. Community enthusiasm for this “garage sale” has grown year after year.

“I look forward to Makers Markets every year! There is a wide variety of sellers, in all price ranges. It’s a really fun market to shop,” says Evanston Made volunteer and board member Anne Laverick.

For many vendors, bringing goods to market can be stressful and expensive, but Makers Markets are focused on welcoming all levels of makers. “Consumer accessibility is essential for manufacturers and not all manufacturers can afford traditional art fairs and markets. This market is not only accessible, making it low risk, but also weatherproof as it is held inside a covered garage!” says Evanston Made Founder and Executive Director Lisa Degliantoni.

Evanston Made encourages people to shop and share their purchases on social media using hashtags that raise awareness of handmade products, using #shopevanston #shophandmade #evanstonmade #buydirect.

Makers Markets take place on August 7 and October 2 from 12 pm to 5 pm at 1800 Maple Avenue in downtown Evanston. Parking is free. Please visit evanstonmade.org to view vendors or sign up to sell.
